History

In 1630, Puritan settlers from England founded Boston, making it one of the oldest cities in the United States. It is located on the Shawmut Peninsula and is home to some of the most historically important events in the American Revolution. These include the Boston Tea Party, the Siege of Boston, the Boston Massacre, and the Battle of Bunker Hill. Boston has grown into an important port and hub for manufacturing, following the United State’s independence from England.

Culture

With much of it’s culture built around the universities, Boston has a strong academic influence. Boston also focuses heavily on performing arts and features the Boston Opera House, Cutler Majestic Theatre, and the Citi Performing Arts Center. Residents are treated to many Museums, art galleries, concert venues, and parks. Boston also hosts the annual Boston Film Festival, Boston Book Festival, and the Saint Patrick’s Day parade.

Recreation

Among many gems of Boston, the Boston Public Garden which helps form the Emerald Necklace. Boston also features the Boston Common which is the oldest public park in America.
